Urban Dictionary is an online source for slangs most used on streets. It´s done under the Internet 2.0 philosophy of cooperation, since you can edit the entries, so do expect a bit of uncohereance. So long as coherent with the cyber approach, it may get you hook with ratings, a chat and the newest entry.
For the ones who still think a language is stuck in the books, the label word of the day reveals all the lively veins of English with the latest slangs. Take a look:
- A new slang:
You´de better come correct = you´d better come out rightly.
I would advise you to come correct before you start throwing out facts that are really false.
- An old - new attitude?
I am homing from work = Using work time and resources for personal tasks.
Myers: I told you Gary, my home Internet connection sucks ass. I am going to download and burn them at the office while I am homing from work.
- And for your pleasure, a brand new phrasal verb:
I´ll pencil you in = to pencil someone in means making a tentative appointment. From pencil, because it can be erased and from in because is into my schedule book.
Boohiss: Er. I’m kinda busy this week. Tell you what, I’ll pencil you in for 4:30 on Thursday.
